According to an NHTSA report, the recall concerns a small number of 2021–2023 Elantra HEV models, totaling 37,997 vehicles.
Vehicle identification numbers (VIN) can be used to search recall databases like USA TODAY or NHTSA.
By October 17, Hyundai will issue owners notification letters; dealerships will provide a free software upgrade for the motor control unit.
– Earlier, Hyundai recalled 52,008 Palisade SUVs, Tucson, Sonata, Elantra, and Kona vehicles due to defects.
By September 25, notice letters for this recall must be mailed; dealerships will provide free inspections and replacements.
For recalled vehicles, the NHTSA advises parking outside until repairs are made due to the possibility of an oil pump overheating.
